All of the standard tech buildings in the game also exist in CannisRules. No effort has been spent to create "new" tech buildings,
since for the player to ever see them, they would require new maps which would bloat the file size of the mod. Instead, CannisRules has for
the most part concentrated on whatever minor fixes the existing buildings would require.
The mod makes one change which is common to all tech buildings. Units which destroy them will gain experience points towards unit promotion.
Experience points vary by the importance of the tech building, with Tech Power Plants, Tech Hospitals, and Tech Outposts granting the least,
and Tech Airports and Tech Oil Derricks granting the most.
Tech Airport
The Tech Airport is unique among tech buildings in that when captured, it is officially considered part of your base. When it is attacked,
you will hear the generic "Our base is under attack" warning message. If you lose all your units and all your conventional base
buildings, yet you still own a Tech Airport, you will not lose the game. The rationale for this change is since the Tech Airport will
continue to produce new units, you can still continue the fight.
The paradrop gained from capturing a Tech Airport now come in 2 stronger, larger planes rather than just one fairly weak plane, to better
ensure the troops will actually be dropped where intended. Also, the sizes of the paradrops are slightly increased: Allies get 8 GIs rather
than 6; Soviets get 12 Conscripts rather than 9; Yuri gets 8 Initiates rather than 6.
The rate that paratroopers will fall has been increased as well, meaning that such troops will be vulnerable for much less time.
Enhancements: When a paradrop is ready, you will hear the EVA announcement "Paratroopers Ready" rather than "Reinforcements
Ready"; and units behind the Tech Airport building will not cause a "hidden unit" icon to be displayed unless they are really
obscured by the building.
Tech Power Plant
Since a Tech Power Plant provides power just like player-built power plants do, they now also satisfy the general power
prerequisite. This change was made because it's rather silly to have an abundance of power from captured Tech Power Plants,
and yet still need to own your own buildable power plant just so you can build another refinery.
Enhancements: When captured, a new building-specific EVA capture announcement is played, rather than the generic 'Tech Building Captured;
and the yellow Tech Building flag now animates at all times, and not just after it is captured.
Tech Oil Derrick
This change is simply cosmetic. When 2 or more derricks are placed so that destroying one will produce an explosion that will
destroy the other(s), rather than all affected derricks blowing up at the same time, they will blow up sequentially in a chain
reaction.
Tech Outpost
This tech building leaves rubble when destroyed as was intended, in all map theaters, as a tech building should (before, it only
did so on snow maps).
Tech Secret Lab
The Secret Lab was designed to give its owner the ability to build a country-specific radar-level unit that he wouldn't be able to build
otherwise. But the limited choices offered by the unmodded game often gave the player a build option he could build anyway. CannisRules
substitutes Beyond Revenge units as Secret Lab boons, so that the player is almost certain to be able to build something new if he captures a
Secret Lab.
In Beyond Revenge game modes, both old (radar-level) and new (Beyond Revenge lab-level) build options are enabled as possible boons. To
allow a non-Korean player to build Black Eagles, the Black Eagle Pad is offered as a new building, very similar to an Aircraft Pad.
The table below represents what possible build options exist, depending on the game mode played. Info on Cyborg Ivan, Psychic Legionnaire, and the
Telekinetic Adept can be found on the Stolen Tech page, and info on the Beyond Revenge units can be found on
the Beyond Revenge page. Note that the unmodded game's option to train Psi Corps Troopers (Yuri Clones) has
been replaced with the option to train Virus.
