- Skirmish A.I. -

Despite what many may think, the majority of the players of any computer game never play online. Therefore any Yuri's Revenge mod is incomplete if that mod does not let the AI (Artificial Intelligence, or Artificial Idiot, if you prefer) make use of the mod's added capabilities.

Attacks.
Over 400 new AI Triggers have been added. This means more and different computer attacks and actions. Computer players should make their first attacks earlier, and attack more frequently.

The AI will also strive to capture tech buildings it previously found inaccessible (derricks on islands, etc.). It will attack its enemy's economy by attempting to deprive him of his miners and refineries. It will send small, early basic tank rushes, as well as later rushes using high-tech units in larger numbers than you are accustomed to seeing. All in all, it will use more formidable, and more credible, attacks on land, sea, and air.

Future releases of CannisRules will continue to add even more AI coding, to make the computer even more unpredictable and challenging, and therefore make the single-player game more enjoyable to play. Top of Page

Beyond Revenge.
The Beyond Revenge tech expansion adds several new country special units. Many mods add new units, but in most of them you'll never see them, unless you build them yourself. This is not the case in CannisRules.

You'll see the AI build and use all of these formidable new units in the Beyond Revenge game modes (and only in the BR game modes). Defending against the capabilities of these new units adds a whole new level of gameplay, and challenges you to develop new countering strategies to survive. If you've become bored with the standard Yuri's Revenge skirmish game, then these game modes are for you. Top of Page

Defenses.
AI players strive to build more defensive structures, and since such buildings are half-price in CannisRules, they are more quickly replaced when destroyed.

Allied AI builds more than one Gap Generator, and French AI builds more than one Grand Cannon (in Beyond Revenge game modes, French AI builds more than one Grand Rapier also).

The AI will wall in the same buildings that it does in the unmodified game, but it builds its walls 'smarter', and therefore won't choke its base with interlocking and spanning walls anymore.

Soviet AI will strive to garrison the Battle Bunkers that it builds, and Yuri AI will strive to fill the Tank Bunkers that it builds.

On general principles, all AI players will build patrolling AA units for base defense. Top of Page

Base Building.
Allied and Soviet AI now builds repair bays, and they use them. Soviets build Nuclear Reactors, giving them a large power surplus. Allies build Aircraft Pads and strive to use them to send larger attack squadrons. Allied AI builds SpySat Uplinks (not that it actually needs them).

Overall, the AI should strive to build larger, more difficult-to-overrun bases. On some maps with small, cramped base areas, the AI may not have enough room to develop its base as it should. For best results, when setting up a game, select maps which allow adequate room for AI base building. Top of Page
