CannisRules supports the playing of many, many more music tracks than the paltry 10 offered by the unmodified Yuri's Revenge game. The mod
has the ability to play all tracks supported by the
YR Playlist Modifier. If you are currently using the YRPM,
you can continue to do so. If you rely instead on the mod to enable the playlist, then all available tracks may be played (the mod cannot
selectively disable available music tracks as the YRPM can).
In addition to the Yuri's Revenge tracks, music from the following sources is supported:
- Tiberian Dawn (Command & Conquer)
- Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations expansion
- Red Alert
- Red Alert: The Aftermath expansion
- Red Alert: Counterstrike expansion
- Tiberian Sun
- Tiberian Sun: Firestorm expansion
- Red Alert 2
- Renegade
- Unreleased RA2 tracks
- Enemy Unknown
What's more, there is also support for up to 50 music tracks of your choice.
However, while CannisRules supports the playing of these additional music tracks, the music tracks themselves are not
included with the mod. Simply running CannisRules will not give you music tracks you do not have. If you want to hear the additional
music, you will have to provide it yourself.
For possible sources of ready-made music packs, visit the
Purple Alert website, and read the information related to
the YR Playlist Modifier.
If you already have some or all of the above games, you might wish to make your own music packs rather than
download very large files. Instructions for how to do just that are also available at the
Purple Alert website, or you can read the same
instructions offline by clicking the "Manual" button on the CannisRules mod launcher. The instructions are simple enough that
anyone with basic computer knowledge can follow them.
Adding the music packs is completely optional, and you do not have to do anything if you don't wish to enable them. But, if you're tired
of listening to the same old 10 YR songs, and would like a potential playlist of over 200 tracks instead, then I can assure you that it's
worth the effort to enable them.
