There are some missing features, missing game modes, and/or game crashes when I build certain units. Why is this?
It is possible that you have loose files in your game folder that are left over from other mods or projects. You could
completely uninstall (that means not only uninstall, but also delete your RA2 folder and its contents afterwards) then reinstall fresh... or
you could manually remove the files that might be causing the problem. I recommend the latter so you don't lose all the maps you've probably
downloaded.
Let's assume a system where Red Alert2 and Yuri's Revenge have just been installed and patched. Additionally,
let's assume that the Assault Mappacks and the Terrain Expansion have been added; and that you have installed some or all of the extra music
packs. These are the only files with the .INI and .MIX file extensions that you should see in the RA2 game folder:
| Keyboard.ini | - installed by game |
| KeyboardMD.ini | - installed by game |
| ra2.ini | - installed by game |
| RA2MD.ini | - installed by game |
| Register.ini | - installed by game |
| wolinfo.ini | - installed by game |
| wolinfoMD.ini | - installed by game |
| ecacheassault*.mix | - various Assault Mappacks - user installed |
| ecachetheme*.mix | - various music theme packs - user installed |
| expandmd01.mix | - official 1.001 patch |
| expandmd06.mix | - Terrain Expansion - user installed |
| langmd.mix | - installed by game |
| language.mix | - installed by game |
| ra2.mix | - installed by game |
| ra2md.mix | - installed by game |
If you have any OTHER files in your RA2 folder with the .INI or .MIX file extensions, you should remove them.
Also, if you have any files at all with the .CSF, .PKT, .VXL, .HVA, or .SHP file extensions, you should remove them too.
