Confidential briefing from President Dugan, Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces:

This second phase of my briefing will bring you up to speed on the current state of our Allied base defenses and superweapon structures. I am confident that you will rethink your base defense strategy after seeing the changes we've made.

Allied Wall  Allied Wall
The strength and durability of the Allied Wall has been augmented somewhat. To make it even more useful to you, it can now be built a slightly greater distance away from your buildings.

If you start a multiplayer/skirmish game as an Allied country, the Allied Wall will be the only wall type ever available to you, even if you own multiple tech trees. This is mainly to reduce build option clutter, and also because different wall types don't "mesh" together anyhow. This change does not apply when playing the single-player campaigns. Top of Page

Pillbox  Pillbox
The cost of the Pillbox has been reduced to $250 (from $500 previously), and can be built further away from your buildings (5 map cells vs. 4 previously). Top of Page

Patriot Missiles  Patriot Missiles
The performance of our Patriot Missiles has been admittedly disappointing, so we have improved them significantly. The launcher will turn faster so as to more quickly acquire the target. It now fires two missiles rather than one (each of which does 60% of the damage of the original single missile, for an overall damage level of 120% of normal). Also, these missiles are faster and have a longer range, and are capable of shooting paratroopers out of the sky. As with other defensive structures, the Patriot's cost has been cut in half ($500 vs. $1000 previously), and can be built further away from your other buildings (5 map cells vs. 4 previously). Prism Tower  Prism Tower
The mighty Prism Tower also benefits from a cost reduction ($750 vs. $1500 previously) and can be built further away from your buildings (4 map cells vs. 2 previously). Building a complete Prism network is now both cost-effective and feasible, but each additional tower in the network will not increase the total beam strength to quite the extent that it did before. Grand Cannon  Grand Cannon - France's Special Building France
Our French allies have weighed in with great improvements to the already-formidable Grand Cannon. First, a more efficient design requires but half the power that was needed previously. But most importantly, today's Grand Cannon gains experience and can be promoted, leading to better firing rates and greater firepower levels. And, as France's Special Building, the Grand Cannon will begin to self-heal at the Veteran level (although manually repairing brings faster results).

However you must keep in mind that these changes have had the side-effect of making the Cannon's shot less effective against buildings. I would advise against "cannon crawling" as an offensive strategy, because the results are likely to be disappointing.

Graphical improvements: A larger image for the cannonball which utilizes a smoke trail, the cannon barrel angle is changed to more closely match the ballistic arc of the shot, and the shots now properly originate at the muzzle of the barrel, rather than at the base. Top of Page

Gap Generator  Gap Generator
As you know, our Gap Generator allows us to hide our plans from our enemies. For some reason, a flaw in the design prevented the mechanism from spinning, though it managed to function anyway. Our engineers have fixed that flaw and the mechanism spins as it was intended to do, although the sound of the mechanism can be heard under the shroud. Otherwise, no other changes have been made to this structure. You should be warned to not be surprised if computer-controlled enemies build several.

SpySat Uplink  SpySat Uplink
The SpySat remains the most valuable intelligence-gathering resource we own. Again, no changes have been made to this building. Top of Page

ChronosphereChronoshift  Chronosphere
Einstein's Chronoshift is probably the most versatile superweapon ever devised. There's no need to fix what isn't broken, so no changes have been made to the Chronoshift effect nor to the Chronosphere building itself. Top of Page

Weather Control DeviceLightning Storm  Weather Control Device
The most destructive application of the Unified Field Theory is the Lightning Storm, and this building is what controls it. No changes have been planned for this structure nor for the superweapon. Top of Page

With our discussion of our Armory structures complete, let's move on to a rundown of what we've done with the brave men and women who serve in our Allied Infantry forces.
